Folded books, sometimes called Bookami, is the art of creating images and words by folding the pages of books. There are different styles of book folding: MMF, C & F, Combi, Shadow and Multi.
The method used and size of the book determines how detailed the image can be.
Each page is individually marked in cm’s, following the instructions of the pattern created. Some of the pages can have a large number of measurements, depending on the intricacy of the pattern. Once the measurements have been marked, the page is either folded, or cut on the measurements marked and the tabs created are folded. Many patterns can have 2,000 + marks over hundreds of pages.
This is all done by hand, no lasers, Dremel or other carving implements are used to create these words and images. There are very few images that cannot be created using this art.
