Tommyknocker

Clay Tommyknockers have been found in the abandoned mines in Virginia City, Nevada.  The Cornish brought Tommyknockers to the Comstock from Great Britain a belief in little clay elfin spirits, located in the mines, would bring good luck to the miners.  These were made of clay and believed to have warned miners of impending cave-ins and led them to valuable ore deposits.  The miners left crumbs of food around crude clay statues.  In an effort to preserve the Comstock legends, we are remaking these unique small Tommyknockers to spread the good luck of the Comstock lode to new comers and dreamers.  Each is different in it’s own way.  Approximately 4″ tall hand sculpted and glazed in white stoneware.
