Corkscrew Ranch Honey & Soap

The Corkscrew Ranch produces local honey and honey-infused soap from their bees in Northern Nevada.

What do you get when you take two descendants of long-time cattle ranchers – one a fifth-generation Nevadan and one from Scottish descent – and put them out in a pasture? That’s how you get the Corkscrew Land & Cattle Company (the Corkscrew Ranch). Shannon Ceresola is a fifth-generation Nevadan who comes from multiple generations of cattle ranchers. Shannon’s family settled in the Wadsworth area in the 1880’s. Shannon grew up in Lovelock and raised 4-H and FFA animals and competed in rodeos until her late-teens. Lowell Patton grew up on his grandparents’ cattle ranch and raised 4-H animals. He has ranching history on both sides of his family. His Scottish ancestors (Clan Macneil) left Scotland in 1773 and eventually made their way to Northern California.

Together, Lowell and Shannon acquired property in Fernley, Nevada. In 2013 they began growing alfalfa. The Corkscrew Ranch now grows enough forage for its Highland Cattle fold and, at times, has additional hay for sale. They added bee hives in 2022 and now sell honey and honey-infused soap.
