Lani's Lana ~ Fine Rambouillet Wool
Reno, Nevada, United States (US), 89502
Lani’s Lana is the creation of Fiber Artist and rancher Lani Estill. The development of a line of yarn came slowly but was a natural extension of the ranching business and Lani’s love of wool and natural fibers. The fibers used in Lani’s yarn are sourced from the Bare Ranch or neighboring ranches that have similar values and wool. Our wool is grown using sustainable natural methods rooted in tradition with respect for earth, animals, people and the product created for future generations…Full circle, natural, and with no harmful dyes or chemicals. Our goal is to offer a product that is produced right here in Northern California/Northwest Nevada that is often only imported from countries far away. We want our wool to be available right here at home. For although we sell in bulk to companies like The North Face, we have an amazing superfine wool that is just so good, that home spinners and fiber artists should be able to access it too. The Bare Ranch in Surprise Valley supports a Rambouillet sheep operation in the High Desert area of Great Basin in Northwest Nevada and Northeast California. The sheep range runs from Sulfur Mines, NV to the Warner Mountains, CA. The sheep graze on Forest Service and BLM public land grazing permits for much of the year. They graze outside under the watchful eye of the sheepherders and their dogs. It is a lifestyle rooted in tradition and grandeur. Close to the earth, close to nature and ever so open and exposed to elements beyond control of man.
